Hermione Granger of Harry Potter fame for the Light Grey Art Lab Girls: Fact or Fiction show.
Get the book for free, if you spend 100$ in the Light Grey Shop before December 7th with the code 100GETSABOOK on check out.
And now, how about a reblog contest + nerd challenge to win a free character commission?
In this illustration, I’ve hidden 6 clues about Hermione’s story. If you think your knowledge of the witch is up to scratch, game on.
1 - Reblog this post.
2 - E-mail hermyownees@gmail.com, stating your Tumblr username and your answer, preferably in list form. Be clear but succinct. Tell why they relate to her.
Don’t worry if you can’t find 6 items, or you’re not sure about one of them - in the end, I will be picking the closest try. If a tie happens, first one in wins, so be fast!
Contest closes in December 14th at midnight, GMT. Winner will be announced soon after and I’ll finish your commission in time for Christmas.
Good luck!
I waaaaant this.
Foundation
Victo Ngai
I did this piece a little back for Tor . “Foundation”, by Ann Aguirre, is a first-love story between two boys but they are both stuck in bunkers hiding out from a zombie-like epidemic. You can read the story here.
First year after RISD, I was a bit worry that I would be stuck drawing animals and kids forever, as most AD hire illustrators for what is in their portfolio. So I really have to thank the courageous Irene Gallo for seeing my dark-side and letting me “attack” zombies.
I felt like this story calls for a rugged image and my usual lines are too delicate for the job . Immensely excited by this new challenge, I decided to experiment a bit and eventually went with a new approach of drawing the zombies with graphite/charcoal.
I hope you guys like!
This is ridiculously awesome.
Just updated the art blog. This is my piece for the Light Grey Art Lab’s limited edition tarot card deck. For more information on the project and pre-orders, check out their site.
The Seven of Swords relates to deception, shirking responsibilities, and being a lone wolf.
I just pre-ordered the whole pack. Cannot wait until November.
Now I have no money.
BRAVE DOODLES. guess who my fav character was. i bet you’re shocked.
Loved this movie so much. Glad to see some awesome fanart!

Why all this? Well, you’ve gotta write a big check with quite a few zeros at the end of it to commission art from me—and call me crazy, but I firmly believe that in a perfect world, people *should* get to own art AND do things like “pay rent”, “eat food-like substances on occasion”, and maybe even “continue to live”. Two of you can do that, the rest of you… you’re screwed. Sincerely, <3 Sam
